Robert Huang's Biography
Robert Huang was born on December 5, 1959 in Hualien, who is a Taiwanese artist and entrepreneur; M.A. of Philosophy and Ph. D candidate of Fine Art in Tsinghua University (Beijing). He established Rose House in 1990, and this is the very first traditional English style tea house in Taiwan till now. Rose House soon blossoms into a flourishing global enterprise franchising 50 stores worldwide.
However, as legendary an entrepreneur as him may have been in the eyes of many, it was through the eyes of Antoine de Saint-Exupery's Little Prince, whom Mr. Huang serendipitously encountered during his college years of architectural and art studies, that he painted down yet another legendary page of his life, conveying his lifelong passion of pursuing the life's romantic happiness through that ethereal rose so dearly loved by the Little Prince in all of us with his paint brushes: "The stars are beautiful because of a flower that cannot be seen." - The Little Prince. At age 38, Mr. Huang opened the doors of his artistic vision to the world by devoting his full-time endeavor to the fulfillment of his aesthetic passion. Because of the dedication and talent, his roses, this time on canvas, once again blossomed into full bloom, as they have been so well received internationally that he became the first Chinese artist to have his work presented on an International VISA Card; later also collaborated with Master card and the Japanese JCB card to name the cards after his name and his works of art.
In 2010, his solo exhibition at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts was highly successful. Mr. Huang's paintings have also been featured in one of the most celebrated modern plays performed in the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Red Rose and White Rose, directed by the renowned Chinese Director, Tien Qin-Xin. In 2011, Mr. Huang was invited by Aynsley, one of the most important china manufacturers around the world, as one of the wedding memorial chinaware designers for Prince William's Wedding. He has been invited for a solo exhibition, Robert Huang's Paris' Roses, at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Paris in April 2011, and for a solo exhibition tour in Beijing. The porcelain wares that Mr. Huang has designed have been distributed worldwide and have become prized collections in more than 80 countries. Mr. Huang's paintings have also been offered handsome bids at numerous international auctions.
Mr. Huang believes that art in itself exists independently from reality, and the main direction of his art has always been to explore new art forms for the modern world. Being an entrepreneur turned artist, he painted an artistic legend through his earnest pursuit of romance and love. Though many have admired Mr. Huang's work for his conception of romance and love, he believes that romance and love exist not only in his work, nor do they exist only in the works of poets, artists, but in the hearts of anyone who is willing to seek out that rose eternal in all mankind.
